Oak flooring throughout and bleached oak on the ceilings, along with hints of blues keeps the home light and tropical. The stunning warm-wood floating staircase, complete with skylights and windows, floods the center of the home with natural light.
Off the kitchen is a three-sided screened outdoor living space that offers not only picturesque views of the Gulf of Mexico and pool, but also invites the gentle breeze in.
An extra touch added to this home is the open-wall concept evident in the master suite. In this section of the home, instead of doors, perpendicular partial walls offer unobstructed views of the Gulf through floor-to-ceiling windows.
Joyce explains, “The spaces are very modern (in) how they flow into one another. It was really all about the light and space and the simple transition between rooms without blocking them with doors. It’s just very open and bright. I tried really hard (to ensure that) even though the home is traditional from the front, there is still plenty of light coming into the middle of the house as well as from the Gulf side.”
With a little creativity, AJO was able to present an exquisite, spacious, and luminous residence that exceeded the clients' expectations and aspirations.
